LOS ANGELES PLAYS ITSELF

  • The documentary explores how Los Angeles is presented in films, taking us through decades of cinema, architectural history and more. Making use of a 300-page rolodex at its core, I created a piece that embodied Los Angeles revolving history while visually playing into an older Hollywood feel that was iconic and heavily focused on in the documentary. Each page methodically organised the detailed information, drawn from the documentary, alongside complementary still frames that were key to each point. This was then paired with the title card, designed as an ash tray, and the credits, as post it notes. This was used to create the feel of a Hollywood executive’s office, while maintaining the text as the focal point. Work in this project includes typography and model making.
